Today June 24th, 2019 at 8:12 a.m. PDT an earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay area. 2 people passed and 6 are currently injured.
Hayward resident Mike Beamer explains what he experienced while the earthquake was happening.
“I felt a rolling motion for about 30 seconds,” Beamer said. ”I was eating my breakfast when the room started rolling. I dove under the table just as I heard an explosion outside and a chunk of cement flew through my kitchen window”.
Jennifer Vu a a public information officer releases a statement of what first responders did.
"Twenty-one fire personnel, 12 police and five American Red Cross workers responded to the building collapse,'' Vu said.” With some arriving within four minutes of the earthquake”.
Penny Gertz a scientist from Menlo Park explains the strength of this earthquake.
“The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, which is a very strong one,” Gertz said. ”People as far south as Los Angeles and as far north as Redding felt the quake”.
Local weather reporter Yuling Johnson has adapted to earthquakes
“ After moving to California after a little while it’s just or normal thing for an earthquake to occur,” Johnson said. ” I’m just worried one of these days one will knock California into the Pacific Ocean”.
San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was in his house and explains what the earthquake like.
“I was just standing up eating some cinnamon toast crunch watching espn this morning,” Garoppolo said.” Then out of nowhere I felt the ground shake and it hit my house almost as hard as Khalil Mack hits me”.
