Huntington

On a brisk Sunday evening in December, 53 year old Janice Jones was shot in the leg by her dog. She is currently recovering from the wound.

“ After a long day of work at the library I came home to eat my favorite meal pork chops,'' Jones said. ” Out of nowhere I hear a loud pop and immediately feel excruciating pain”.

Jones was mesmerized she had no idea where the bullet came from and immediately called 911.

“ I just realized I've been shot,” Jones said. “I called the cops as soon as I could, I looked around and didn’t see a shooter and I had no clue where I got shot from”

A highway patrol officer Tammy Rye was there immediately to investigate. While Jones was being taken to the Huntington Beach Hospital.

“  I had no clue what had happened I was informed she was shot, but had no idea where it came from,'' Rye said. “ I searched around for a while and next to her dog there was a discharged gun, and a cigarette appearing hole on her dogs head”.

At the hospital Rye followed up with Jones.

“She had informed me the gun was hers, that was all the information she gave me,” Rye said. “ The dog must have knocked her gun of the seat and luckily didn’t do much damage to jones’s flesh”

Jones lives in a trailer park with an unlicensed gun.

“This is why you need to have a license to hold a gun,” Rye said. “ If not something as ridiculous as this or worse could happen”.
